Chicago: The Musical (Teen Edition) is coming to the Park Tudor stage on March 4, 5, and 6. The two-act musical follows an aspiring actress, Roxie Hart, in her quest to become a “celebrity criminal” after being sent to jail for murder alongside Velma Kelly, another performer who murdered her husband and sister when they were caught having an affair. Together, they navigate the press and the rise to fame.
The musical has been played all around the world and will now grace the stage of the Ayres Auditorium. Seniors Mary Kate Tanselle and Piper Murphy will lead the cast as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly respectively.
Park Tudor originally planned to perform the musical Matilda, but the school announced its switch to Chicago: The Musical in December “in order to serve the many talents of our students.” One talent that will be heavily showcased is dancing.
The show is directed by Nicole Tremblay and is choreographed by Mariel Greenlee. Tanselle will also be choreographing multiple numbers in the production.
Tickets are $14 for students and $16 for adults, available for purchase at parktudor.org/Chicago.
